A man is facing charges of child sex crimes after an alleged assault at a city homeless shelter.

The Williamsport Bureau of Police says that officers responded to the Family Promise Shelter in the 630 block of Hepburn Street on April 6th around 7:30 AM after receiving reports of a possible sexual assault of a child.

Police reviewed surveillance video that showed Leo Johnny Ortega, 28, engaging in inappropriate contact with an 8-year-old boy. Officials say the contact was sexual in nature and enough to issue an arrest warrant against Ortega.

He was arrested the next day.

Ortega is being charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, and corruption of minors.

He is being held at the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $100K bail.
