Authorities with the Altoona Police Department say a Clearfield County couple is facing child endangerment charges after they reportedly overdosed at a Blair County Sheetz over the weekend.

Police say officers were dispatched to the store along East 25th Ave. around 8 p.m. Friday night for a report of an unconscious individual.

Investigators say the unconscious male, identified as 30-year-old Jeffrey Hankerson II, was found lying on the floor of the store.

Police say after he was provided with Narcan, authorities say Hankerson told officers to check on his girlfriend, 23-year-old Mackenzie Withrow, who was located outside in a vehicle.

Authorities say Withrow was also unconscious and was provided with Narcan.

Police added that an 8-month-old child was found in the backseat of the vehicle, unattended, and noted that the outside temperature at the time was approximately 10 degrees.

Investigators say the couple was taken into custody, at which time police asked if they were in possession of any drugs or drug paraphernalia.

Police say Hankerson reportedly answered no but when the couple was being processed, authorities say a bag containing suspected fentanyl reportedly fell out of Hankerson's clothing.

Investigators also noted that another bag of suspected fentanyl was reportedly found "inside his rectum."

According to online court records, both Hankerson and Withrow were arraigned Saturday and have since been released on unsecured bail.
