UPDATE:

According to the Altoona Water Authority, only 11 people are affected by the water main break.

They said those affected have been told directly.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Altoona Water Authority issued a boil-water advisory Thursday.

The release said there was a loss of water pressure due to a water main break on 25th Avenue and 11th Street.

Officials said that due to a lack of pressure, contaminants could have entered the water.

Customers should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before consumption until further notice.

Authorities said boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation.

According to the release, the Water Authority will work as quickly as possible to make repairs and will then test the quality of the water, which can take 36 to 72 hours.
