Cleanup continues Tuesday after a sprinkler valve ruptured in a Penn State Altoona residence hall and displaced several students.

According to Penn State officials, the sprinkler valve ruptured around 7 p.m. Monday in Cedar Hall, affecting fewer than 60 rooms.

Officials said they’ve been cleaning up since just before 11 p.m. Monday.

They said air dryers and dehumidifiers are being used in each affected room and will continue to run until the building is completely cleaned and dried.

Students who were affected by the break were offered temporary and alternative housing.

Officials said they are working as quickly as possible to get students back into the building.
