After a mild start to the week, our weather is changing quite a bit for the end of the week.

A mix of snow, sleet, rain and freezing rain will overspread the area from south to north Friday morning.

The morning commute should be fine in most areas but travel conditions will go downhill as the morning wears on with mixed precipitation arriving into Elk and Cameron counties by early afternoon.

The hilltops above 2,000 feet in Cambria and Somerset counties will see a glaze of ice along with wind gusts up to 55 MPH.

This could cause power outages Friday afternoon through Saturday morning before the winds subside.

Farther north and east, snow sleet and rain will slow travel from Friday afternoon into Friday night across the Northern and Eastern Alleghenies with a glaze of ice also likely along and north of I-80.

Closer to I-99, an inch or two of snow is possible before the changeover to sleet and rain.

All areas west of I-99 will have snow showers Saturday morning which will accumulate an inch or two along with gusty northwest winds.

Conditions will improve quite a bit later in the afternoon.
