BOALSBURG, Pa. - Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy in Boalsburg has suspended its football program for the 2018 season.

Athletic Director Chad Walsh said the decision was made due to a lack of committed players for the upcoming season.

“We have not finished a season with more than 18 healthy players over the past 5five seasons. This year, we are looking at fewer than 13 who have committed to playing," said Walsh.

School officials said thoughalthough the program is suspended for the upcoming season, it doesn't not mean it will cease, and they are looking to develop a feeder program to establish participation in the future.

"The future of Saint Joseph’s athletics is bright. While football may not find its way into the 2018 athletics schedule, it is definitely not the end of the program. With a little bit of time, patience, and meticulous planning, Saint Joseph’s hopes to field a team in the near future," read a statement from the school.

Last year, Saint Joseph's went 0-8 after injuries hampered them from the get go.
