FALLS CREEK - The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission rescued thousands of fish from a lake in Jefferson County Thursday. PFBC has been draining Kyle Lake since September in order to repair the unsafe dam. Before any work can be done, PFBC biologists had to capture and relocate the fish. "What we're doing is collecting these fish here at the outflow of the lake and moving them down to Cloe Lake later today for good public angling down there,"

CRAVANT, France (WKRC) - An elderly woman sold her castle in order to live closer to her family. According to WECB, 88-year-old Colette Béchet sold her medieval castle, which is located in Cravant, France. Per the outlet, the donjon, or keep, sits atop an outcrop in the Yonne region of the country and has been something of a passion project. Béchet lived in the historic structure for over four decades, according to WECB, which reported that she saw the 25-meter-high keep back in 1983 while out on a stroll and purchased it the very next day.

New area code being added to 814 region, Public Utility Commission announces

A new area code is being added to the region currently covered by the 814 area code, state officials announced Thursday. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission says it voted 4-0 to approve a year-long implementation plan which will lead to the start of a new “overlay” for the current 814 area code. The new area code will be announced in the fall. The 814 area code currently covers all or parts of 27 counties across the Central and Northwestern parts of the state.

Westmont Hilltop School District classes to start on time

WESTMONT - Classes are expected to start on time for students at Westmont Hilltop School District. During Monday night’s school board meeting, the concern of asbestos in the high school building was a concern on if the date would be pushed back. “There’s no consideration to change the start date of classes,” school board president Matt Thomas said Tuesday. Officials said a $25,000 change order was approved at the school board meeting to pay workers overtime to get rid of the asbestos and finish up renovations.
