Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Some questions are being raised about former Penn State President Graham Spanier returning to campus next week for a book signing event. Spanier is due to be at the Penn State bookstore on campus next Wednesday to discuss and sign copies of his book, "In the Lion’s Den.” Spanier resigned as Penn State president in 2011, and eventually served jail time as a result of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Search for 6-year-old girl who fell into PA creek now considered recovery, not rescue

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — The search for a 6-year-old girl who was swept away in a rain-swollen southeastern Pennsylvania creek has become a recovery mission rather than a rescue mission, authorities said Sunday. Authorities in Chester County said the child was reported missing at about 7 p.m. Saturday after she slipped and fell into fast-moving Chester Creek. Several fire companies took part in a search for the next 3 1/2 hours while the Coast Guard continued searching through the night.

Child rapist found dead in cell at SCI Houtzdale, investigators say

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — An SCI Houtzdale inmate in prison for child rape was pronounced dead Tuesday, according to a press release. Superintendent of the State Correctional Institute at Houtzdale Scott Klinefelter stated in the release that Daniel Barnett, 40, was found unresponsive in his cell Tuesday afternoon by prison staff. According to the release, prison staff and medical personnel performed life-saving measures until EMS arrived on scene. The release states that Barnett was pronounced dead just before 4:30 p.

Florida woman sues Hershey's over misleading ads for faces on Reese's Halloween candy

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (TND) — An upset customer is suing Hershey's for "deceptive advertising" after buying Halloween-themed Reese's Peanut Butter Pumpkins. Cynthia Kelly alleges Hershey's falsely represented several products as "containing explicit carved out artistic designs when there are no such carvings in the actual products," according to the lawsuit. Some of the holiday-themed products referenced include Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins, White Pumpkins, Pieces Pumpkins, Peanut Butter Ghost and White Ghost.

Penguins re-sign defenseman Kris Letang to 6-year contract extension

PITTSBURGH (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to a six-year, $36.6 million contract extension with veteran defenseman Kris Letang, theteam announced Thursday.
