Bishop Carroll athletics voted out of Laurel Highlands Conference

SIDMAN -- Laurel Highlands Conference members voted unanimously Wednesday morning to eliminate Bishop Carroll High School's athletics teams from competition beginning in the 2018-2019 season. Somerset High School Athletic Director Scott Close confirmed to WJAC-TV 6 Sports Wednesday night the 11-0 vote reflected the conference members concerns over the school's low roster numbers in football, and inability to field a junior varsity football team. The Huskies finished 0-10 this past season.

Local police department now fully equipped with tasers, via new state funding

Cambria County, PA — Chief B.J. Newman, with the West Hills Regional Police Department says the idea of providing more tasers to his officers was proposed by the previous chief. PA man accused of luring girl, 11 who was later found by tracking her iPad

Pittsburgh (WPXI) — A Pennsylvania man is behind bars for allegedly luring an 11-year-old into his car and authorities say an iPad helped police find the child. Police say 43-year-old Keith Lilliock was reportedly working at a Youngwood Dollar General Sunday night when police say he lured an 11-year-old girl. "I was just blown away. I couldn't believe it because I know Keith. I shop here all the time. He always works in the evenings.

Williamsport man charged with sexually abusing a child at a homeless shelter

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING CO, (WOLF) — A man is facing charges of child sex crimes after an alleged assault at a city homeless shelter. The Williamsport Bureau of Police says that officers responded to the Family Promise Shelter in the 630 block of Hepburn Street on April 6th around 7:30 AM after receiving reports of a possible sexual assault of a child. Police reviewed surveillance video that showed Leo Johnny Ortega, 28, engaging in inappropriate contact with an 8-year-old boy.
