UNDATED (WKRC) - According to Zillow, renters must earn around $80,000 to comfortably afford the typical rent in the United States. Zillow reported that since 2019, rent in America has grown 1.5 times faster than wages. According to data provided by Zillow, the typical rent was $1,505 in November of 2019. That number increased to $1,997 in April 2024. To comfortably afford rent today, meaning to spend no more than 30% of their income, renters would need to make $79,889.

'I think he died:' State College man put OD victim's body inside trash can, police say

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County say a State College man is being charged with abuse of a corpse after he reportedly put the body of his deceased roommate inside a trash can and left it outside of an abandoned property in College Township. Police say Christopher Hampton, 50, allegedly admitted to hiding the victim's body in a trash can after the man reportedly overdosed while the two were on a trip out of state.

Crime-stopping AI cameras coming to a Cambria County police department

Northern Cambria Borough Police Department Chief Derek Stitt said four locations in the borough will soon have four new cameras helping to stop crime. He said the there are two different types of cameras they are getting. Officials said the first type is a license plate reader, which can read and analyze a car's license plate for outstanding warrants or check if they car is reported as stolen. They said those cameras are already installed in the area and have been used in investigations.

Johnstown plastic surgeon pleads guilty to Medicaid, insurance fraud

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- A Johnstown plastic surgeon pleaded guilty Friday to two felony counts of Medicaid and insurance fraud. Dr. Daniel R. Nevarre was sentenced to six to 23 months of house arrest, followed by three years of probation. “When people commit Medicaid fraud, they’re stealing tax dollars from people who are in real need of health care services,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said. Nevarre was the owner and operator of Plastic Surgical Associates of Johnstown until its sale in May 2017.

'Presumed human remains' found with evidence recovered from Titan wreckage site, Coast Gua

WASHINGTON (TND) — "Presumed human remains" were found after the Titan submersible imploded during its underwater descent to explore the site of the Titanic shipwreck, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. Five people were aboard the vessel, including a father and son, when it met its fate on June 18. Debris and evidence were recovered from the seafloor on Wednesday, which was 10 days after the Titan lost contact with a Canadian research boat during a dive approximately 900 miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

2 employees, first responders felt ill after incident at SCI Rockview

BELLEFONTE, Pa. — Employees and first responders reported feeling ill at SCI Rockview Tuesday in an incident that is the latest in a string of similar reports this month. Since the beginning of August, at least 25 prison employees have reported feeling ill after coming into contact with "unknown substances" at state prisons located mostly in the western half of the state. The Department of Corrections also announced Tuesday that officials said security staff at nearby SCI Benner Township discovered drugs located in the non-contact visiting booth at the facility Monday.
