Somerset Humane Society reaches capacity, no longer accepting any animals at this time
Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — For the first time, officials at the Humane Society of Somerset County say they are currently not taking in any more animals.
This is due to what they call “an alarming rise in animals coming through the door.”
They say the issue is made worse by low staffing which makes it difficult to care for the animals.

Train carrying hazardous materials derails in Pennsylvania prompting evacuations
WASHINGTON (TND) — Homes were evacuated in Pennsylvania Monday morning after a train carrying hazardous materials derailed. A 40-car CSX freight train derailed in Montgomery County just before 5 a.m. causing emergency crews to respond to Whitemarsh Township, according to CBS News. CSX said at least 16 cars went off the tracks but officials alter confirmed 15 cars derailed. Precautionary evacuations have occurred at the residents and businesses closest to the scene.

However, there are plenty of good reviews floating out on the interweb.
Bellefonte YMCA hosts Memorial Day remembrance event
Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — The Bellefonte family YMCA in Centre County hosted a Memorial Day weekend celebration and Remembrance Day event on Friday.
Members and the public arrived for plenty of food and entertainment.
New this year, each of the YMCA branches in Centre County are hosting two community events per month.
For Friday’s community event, the staff in Bellefonte decided to have a day to honor those men and women of our armed forces who have passed away, and to say thank you to those members who may have family who passed away in combat or in retirement.
Chester Hill residents seek answers from PEMA after severe flooding
CHESTER HILL, Pa. (WJAC) — A meeting in Clearfield County Tuesday aimed to help Chester Hill residents move forward after severe flooding damaged multiple properties last month.
"I had this for 20 years. This mobile home and that was my livelihood," resident Shirley Kelce said.
Several residents attended the borough council meeting looking for answers. Answers, as far as what’s next for them and their homes after serve flooding damaged their neighborhoods.
Child killed, 2 siblings and father injured in house fire
BUTLER, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a child was killed when a fast-moving fire roared through a western Pennsylvania home. The child's two siblings and their father were injured in the blaze in Butler, which broke out around noon Thursday. Their names and further details on their injuries were not disclosed. The child who died was found on the second floor of the home. The children's mother was at work when the fire occurred, and no one else was in the home at the time.
Detainee escapes Moshannon Valley ICE processing center, caught 90 minutes later, officials say
Philipsburg, PA — Authorities with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency reported Friday that a detainee escaped from the Moshannon Valley Processing Center, in Philipsburg, earlier this week.
Officials say the "non-citizen" was reportedly captured 90 minutes after the escape on Tuesday night. State police say troopers located the escapee approximately two miles from the facility.
Authorities noted that the individual does not have any "violent or sexual offense convictions.

Ruby Franke, Jodi Hildebrandt to be sentenced
ST. GEORGE, Utah (KUTV) — After a whirlwind of police, court and social media action following the arrests of YouTubers Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt in the summer of 2023, the two former business partners and friends are set to learn their sentence. Both women are scheduled to appear Tuesday before Utah 5th District Court Judge Keith Barnes in a St. George courtroom. Franke and Hildebrandt both pleaded guilty to four counts ofsecond-degree aggravated child abuse for their respective parts in what court documents called the "
