Last surviving Dallas detective who investigated JFK assassination 61 years ago dies
DALLAS (KTXS) — The last surviving Dallas police homicide detective who investigated the assassination of President John F. Kennedy has died.
Elmer Boyd was deeply involved in the investigation and eventually took gunman Lee Harvey Oswald into custody, according to The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.
President Kennedy was shot just after noon on Nov. 22, 1963, as he rode through Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas in a motorcade.

Philipsburg's Big Santa, local staple since 1960's, vandalized
PHILIPSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — There’s outrage Friday about vandalism at a beloved holiday display in the area, but repair work is already underway.
Simply known as “the Big Santa,” the nearly 40-foot-tall, plywood Santa along with toy soldiers and a bag of toys, has been a fixture in the Philipsburg area since the 1960's.
This past December, members of the Philipsburg Elks and other volunteers put up the display together at the Cold Stream Dam Park.
'I don't want to catch a case:' Altoona man accused of raping 12-year-old girl, PSP says
Altoona, PA (WJAC) — State police in Blair County say an Altoona man is behind bars after he was accused of raping a 12-year-old girl earlier this year. Troopers say in early March, authorities were contacted to investigate the alleged sexual assault of a young girl after she had been reported missing and then returned, at which time she reportedly told her family that she had "engaged in sexual intercourse" with 24-year-old Jesus Lamour Romero.
AG announces child sex abuse charges against 4 men, including former Cambria Co. resident
Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced charges Wednesday against four current or former Pennsylvania residents for their alleged sex crimes against children.
Authorities say the charges were filed following a grand jury investigation into members of Jehovah's Witnesses.
These cases are disturbing, the allegations hard to imagine, and all share one common tie. The 19 victims and the four men who are being charged with sexually violating them are all members of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Federal agents, PSP arrest two Maryland fugitives in Bedford Co. earlier this week
BEDFORD CO, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Bedford say two Maryland fugitives were arrested earlier this week in Cumberland Valley Township, according to a report.
Troopers say 54-year-old David Howe Jr. and Sandra Rust (unknown age) were arrested at a home, along the 100 block of Sawmill Lane, on Tuesday morning.
Bedford troopers assisted Maryland state police and the U.S. Marshals Service in serving the arrest warrants, the report adds.
Police respond to shooting at Monroeville strip mall
MONROEVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Police are investigating a shooting at a western Pennsylvania strip mall.
Monroeville police were taping off the Miracle Ear store outside a small plaza in this municipality about 15 miles east of Pittsburgh.
The shots were reportedly fired just after 2 p.m. and there was broken glass at the hearing aid store, where calls were being routed to corporate offices. The company didn't immediately respond to a call seeking comment.
