FBI, treasure hunters digging in Elk County

DENTS RUN - Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and local treasure hunters were digging in Elk County Tuesday. The agencies were set up off Route 555 in the community of Dents Run in Benezette Township. Public Affairs Specialist for the FBI Carrie Adamowski could only confirm that FBI agents were conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity. 6 News cameras also caught Dennis and Kem Parada on site, owners of Finders Keepers.

Fire crews battle barn fire in Centre County

PENN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — Fire crews from across Centre County responded to a barn fire around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The fire happened at an Amish family farm on Long Lane in Millheim. A witness at the scene told 6 News he was cutting his grass when he saw the flames erupting from the barn. He also said animals were in the barn but were safely rescued. Millheim Fire Company officials said no one was injured in the fire.

Operation April Showers nets 9 accused dealers in Bedford County drug bust

BEDFORD – Arrest warrants were served Tuesday on nine accused drug dealers during an early-morning raid in Bedford County. The Bedford County Drug Task Force, as well as the Pennsylvania State Police, conducted the raid beginning at 7 a.m. The defendants were arraigned throughout the morning at the office of Magisterial District Judge Kathy Calhoun. “Operation April Showers” culminated a 12-month drug task force investigation into local drug-trafficking operations that began at the conclusion of “Operation Shamrock Shackles” in March 2016, during which 21 suspected drug dealers were apprehended.

Curwensville couple charged after infant suffers 'near fatal' overdose, PSP says

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — State police say a Clearfield County couple is behind bars after an 11-month-old nearly died from a fentanyl overdose. Police say on January 11th, the child was transported by ambulance to Penn Highlands Clearfield where he was revived using the opioid-reversal drug Narcan. The child was then flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for further treatment. Police say the child’s parents, 41-year-old Raymond Nestlerode and 28-year-old Amber Jaeger, of Curwensville, both admitted to using drugs and drug paraphernalia was found in the home.

Man charged for choking, threatening woman; stealing her car along Rt. 219

Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Somerset County say a man is behind bars after he reportedly assaulted and threatened a woman over the weekend, and then stole her car, all while the two were traveling along Route 219. Police say on Saturday, officers were dispatched to Route 219 southbound, near the Jerome exit, for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigators say the victim told officers that she was driving her vehicle along the highway and that 42-year-old Justin Klink, who is known to her, was in the passenger seat.
