Louis Lappe hit a walk-off homer as California beat Curacao 6-5 in the Little League World Series championship on Sunday, despite giving up a four-run lead. Louis flipped his bat and threw his arms in the air as he trotted around the bases, leaping onto home plate as he was greeted by his teammates surrounding the batter’s box.

Kayak rentals, multi-use pavilion coming soon

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Visitors to Somerset Lake will see more work being done to a trail that will eventually loop the entire way around the waterway. Phase 2-B construction is beginning for a quarter mile piece of trail from the main parking area to the main boat launch along the water line, and back up through the woods to Wood Duck Road. County planning officials say there is also clearing taking place on the grounds above the trail for the future site of a multi-use pavilion.

Overnight fire damages over a dozen homes in Easton, PA; five firefighters injured

Easton, Pennsylvania — More than a dozen homes were damaged in a six-alarm fire Monday night in Easton, Pennsylvania. Fire crews responding to the scene found a fire burning in three of the row homes, and that fire quickly spread. "We had a crew right around the corner. When they got here, they had fire showing in three dwellings and it just went the whole block." At least 15 homes were damaged by the fire, either by the flames or by smoke.

Thief broke into used bookstore for valuable books

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Police in suburban Philadelphia say a thief made off with rare and valuable books from a used bookstore, including a rare edition of "To Kill A Mockingbird." Baldwin Book's Barn manager Fred Dannaway says the thief took at least 20 rare books from a case at the front of the West Chester-area bookstore. Dannaway says the thief didn't touch money in the register and left behind other expensive books displayed on a nearby counter.

Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — Authorities announced Tuesday that a third person has been charged in connection to an alleged "murder-for-hire" and arson plot in Bedford County. Last week, police arrested 43-year-old Heather Dibert after investigators say she allegedly hired a man in an attempt to kill her wife and her wife's family. Troopers say Dibert reportedly offered money and drugs to 34-year-old Zachery Sellers, of Lewistown, in exchange for him burning down a home in Napier Township where her wife was staying with family members.

The Dillon family's tent has a fridge, microwave, beds, and other amenities. Like many other families at the Grange Fair — the last tenting fair in the county — the Dillons have camped out on the grounds for generations.

Overnight blaze severely damages popular Duncansville restaurant

Authorities say crews from over a dozen area fire companies were dispatched around 1 a.m. for a report of heavy smoke and fire at the Inlow's Drive-In. Fire officials with the Allegheny Township Volunteer Fire Department say no injuries were reported in the blaze. A state police fire marshal was called in to investigate the cause of the fire.

SCI Huntingdon inmate back in custody after stealing vehicle in escape attempt

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - An inmate is back in custody after he walked off of work detail Friday, police said. According to police, the inmate was on work detail on state Route 26 near the Walmart when he walked off around 12:30 p.m. Department of Corrections identified the inmate as 26-year-old John Adam Bertolette. Police said Bertolette stole a vehicle from a nearby housing development and tried to escape. Troopers began a search and spotted, then stopped the vehicle just south of Marklesburg Borough.
