Leader of drug organization indicted for distributing heroin, cocaine in Blair, Cambria Co
BLAIR CO, Pa (WJAC) — According to a grand jury report, the leader of an area drug organization has been indicted for distributing heroin and cocaine throughout Blair and Cambria counties from March 2017 to July 2020. Authorities say 40-year-old Jonathan Delacruz, as well as two female associates, face charges of operating a corrupt organization, violating the controlled substance/drug act, criminal conspiracy and criminal use of a communication device.
Investigators say Delacruz made more than $1 million distributing the drugs in and around Blair and Cambria counties.
Legendary Temple basketball coach John Chaney dies at 89
PHILADELPHIA, Pa (AP) — John Chaney, one of the nation's leading Black coaches during a Hall of Fame career at Temple, has died. He was a commanding figure on the court and admired as much for his mentoring of players as for the team's success.
He became a de facto father to dozens of his players, many coming from broken homes. Chaney led Temple to 17 NCAA Tournament appearances over 24 seasons, including five NCAA regional finals.
Severe storms in the Midwest bring tornadoes, heavy rain as Iowa cleanup continues
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Several tornadoes were reported in Iowa and Illinois as storms downed power lines and trees on Friday, just days after a deadly twister devastated one small town.
The large storm system began overnight in Nebraska before traveling across central Iowa and into Illinois. A weak tornado touched down in suburban Des Moines, according to the National Weather Service, which was also assessing damage from several other reported twisters south of Iowa City and near Moline, Illinois.

Sandy Twp. 'discontinues' consolidation lawsuit against DuBois
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — This week, Sandy Township supervisors officially “discontinued" their lawsuit against the city of DuBois.
The lawsuit was filed last June to pause the consolidation process with DuBois in the wake of criminal charges being filed against their then city manager Herm Suplizio.
Sandy Township then began raising concerns about the city's financial situation, noting that once the consolidation is finalized, both municipalities would "assume all debts, liabilities and duties of each individual municipality.
Virginia's Dulles Airport would be renamed in honor of Trump under GOP bill

Water main break disrupts businesses, tourist attractions in Atlanta, other areas
ATLANTA (AP) — A water main break has interrupted water service and led to low water pressure in the city's downtown and other parts of Georgia's capital.
Crews on Friday were “working aggressively” to make emergency repairs to the 32-inch water main, the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management said in a statement.
Water service has been temporarily interrupted, affecting residents, businesses, and hydrants in the area,” the agency said.The Department of Watershed Management issued a boil water advisory for a large swath of metro Atlanta and asked the public to restrict water usage to allow the pressure in the system to rebuild.

WASHINGTON (TND) — There is talk about whether President Joe Biden's name will appear on the Ohio ballot this November. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose addressed the issue on social media, noting the state's house speaker said "there won't be a legislative solution" to an obscure provision of an Ohio law that requires presidential candidates be certified ahead of the general election. LaRose said the law requires the political party selecting its presidential and vice presidential candidates must certify the names of the candidates with the secretary of state 90 days before the general election to ensure they will be on the ballot.
