RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) – A lightning strike caused the Walmart in Richland Township to close Saturday night.

A spokesperson says a transformer in the back of the store was struck by lightning, causing the store to lose power.

They are working to repair the damage.

The store has refrigerated trucks on site to keep all the refrigerated items fresh.

There were no injuries, but the store will remain closed until repairs can be made.

A representative from Penelec says there was a small outage that only affected two customers around 6:30 p.m., but their power has been restored.
