The sentence for a Johnstown man convicted of first-degree murder was set in stone, but the hearing proved to be a final chance for loved ones to remember a mother, daughter, and friend, killed in one of the most violent cases investigators can remember.

Larry Fason, 57, was sentenced Tuesday to spend the rest of his life behind bars without the possibility of parole for the 2017 death of Angela Lunn. Lunn, 32, was found half-naked in a dumpster in the Hornestown section of the city with a skull fracture, broken neck and ribs, and more than 100 cuts and abrasions.

"My daughter was a very giving person," said Rosemarie Pacenti, Angela's mother. "She saw everyone the same and she loved everybody."

According to investigators, Fason originally said after smoking crack cocaine and pot together, an argument broke out, which led to a physical altercation.

Fason testified in July she caused her own injuries and he dragged her to the area where she was found while she was still alive. He claimed to have lied to investigators because he feared that because he is a black man, the death of a white woman would be pinned on him.

Fason said in the courtroom Tuesday that he was sorry that his friend was gone, but that he did not kill her. He said he had no comment when asked by 6 News if he had anything else to say as he was being led out of the courtroom.

Lunn's family told 6 News in July that they believed justice was done. Pacenti told Fason during a witness-impact statement that Lunn's two little boys will never really know their mother, and also told him, "Hell is going to be a lot worse than prison."

Fason's lawyer said they plan to appeal the case.
