WINDBER, Pa. (WJAC) — Mildred Rizzo, founder of the popular Somerset County Italian restaurant Rizzo’s, died Tuesday morning, according to family members.
Rizzo was the matriarch of the Rizzo family and founded the restaurant in 1965.
She was inducted to the Greater Johnstown--Cambria County Business Hall of Fame in 2013.
Her family members issued a statement expressing their appreciation of the outpouring of support:
“The Rizzo family is appreciative of the outpouring of prayers, love, and support from the community and so many of those who loved Millie. Her passion for her family and others was an inspiration to all.”Rizzo was 96-years-old.
