Authorities with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General have announced additional charges against a former Blair County attorney after he was accused of forging documents in a child custody case.

Investigators say Michael B. Cohen is alleged to have created a false custody order, which prompted his client to break said custody agreement and flee the area with her child.

“As a family law attorney and an officer of the court, Mr. Cohen knew better than anyone the seriousness of custody orders and the critical role of attorneys who practice in that field,” said Attorney General Michelle Henry. “Through his actions Mr. Cohen not only violated the duty he owed his client, but also the court of law.”

Cohen was previously charged in March after authorities say he falsified a court order in an attempt to help another client avoid a PFA violation.

Officials note that Cohen was allegedly paid $10,000 to represent the client in the child custody case and reportedly sent the client a photo of the fraudulent court order.

Cohen faces charges of forgery, tampering and obstruction of justice, and was released on unsecured bail.
