Jager and Friends Dog Park is a non-profit organization and corporation, in Somerset County. For 13 years its founder Jim Atchison, treasurer Judy Rach, and others managed and maintained the property for the public.

Rach says it began with the help of other community members, turning it from a baron parcel of pavement to one of the top 10 dog parks in Pennsylvania. That's according to the PhillyByte magazine. “People from the community had heavy equipment. They came in. They leveled everything. We had people with trucks who came in and gave us soil. Then we had people who planted seeds. So, we started with nothing.” she says.

Owned by Somerset Trust, the 5 1/2 acre park also includes a 1/3 mile walking trail, along with dual gates, a small and big dog area, pavilion, benches, water well, solar power, Wi-Fi, and restrooms.

Now managers say they are facing a new challenge, after the parks founder and president passed away on June 2nd. “In order to keep it open, we must have support and help. It's not just donations, it's people doing things at the park.” says Rach. She says she is actively looking for people to join the parks board of directors, and help with tasks, and that "There's too much here to let it go.”
