Detainee escapes Moshannon Valley ICE processing center, caught 90 minutes later, officials say

Philipsburg, PA — Authorities with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency reported Friday that a detainee escaped from the Moshannon Valley Processing Center, in Philipsburg, earlier this week.

Officials say the "non-citizen" was reportedly captured 90 minutes after the escape on Tuesday night.

State police say troopers located the escapee approximately two miles from the facility.

Authorities noted that the individual does not have any "violent or sexual offense convictions."

The site of the former Moshannon Valley Prison reopened in 2021 as an ICE detention center.
