Emergency crews responded to a fire at a gas station in Jefferson County Tuesday.

Officials said the fire broke out at 1Stop Convenience Store on East Main Street in Reynoldsville around 2:15 p.m.

Reynoldsville Fire Chief Darren Scolese said someone was working on the furnace when the fire broke out. A fire marshal is investigating to determine if the furnace was the cause.

Scolese said the gas station was open at the time of the fire and everyone made it out safely.

Officials said the building is a total loss.

Employee Angie Draa said she was devastated when she heard about the fire.

"I've been with this company for over 12 years and here at the Reynoldsville location for four months," Draa said. "The store means a lot to me. It was a big part of my life and I've made a lot of good friends here and I consider customers family."

The owner told 6 News he bought the building in 2006 and plans to rebuild.
