A Moshannon woman is behind bars in Centre County, accused of strangling another person over an argument about a cowboy hat.

Police say that on Saturday, 33-year-old Amber Shay was reportedly drinking alcohol at her Snow Shoe Township home when the argument began.

Shay is accused of shoving the victim onto a bed before ripping off a cowboy hat and choking the victim.

Police say when Shay’s husband intervened, another argument began. During that argument, police say Shay allegedly grabbed a shotgun and threatened to shoot her husband and the other victim.

Shay is facing multiple offenses, including a felony for strangulation and misdemeanor counts for terroristic threats.

She is being housed in the Centre County Correctional Facility with her bail denied.
